Basin Electric Power Cooperative Dry Fork Station

This project involved a new 385 megawatt coal fired power plant provided with coal from a nearby coal mine. The plant contained a 265’ tall boiler building, three-level steam turbine building, administration building, and service building.

HVAC systems include louvers, mixing fans, reversible fans, air handling units, fan coils, VAV boxes, LP Gas Exhaust fans, 600 Tons of chilled water, fluid coolers, pumps, chilled water piping, air cooled condensing units, variable frequency drives.

Included were high density electrical equipment rooms, UPS, and MCC rooms which required special air conditioning needs. Three of the main high density rooms consisted of 17,610 SF and 133 tons of chilled water.

EAPC services included HVAC engineering, design, construction administration, and system commissioning assistance. All design work and drawing development was done via 3D modeling. Work performed included HVAC load calculations, system flow diagrams, system descriptions, pressure drop calculations, P&ID development, design scheduling, equipment scheduling, construction scheduling, specifications for equipment procurement and installation, procurement assistance, and cost estimating.
