North American Coal Corporation

EAPC designed a new shop and office building for the Coyote Creek Mine owned by North American Coal near Beulah, ND. The new building is used for large, coal hauling truck maintenance and includes office space for administration staff. The combined shop/office space is 64,000 SF and is designed to serve 115-120 workers.

The shop for large trucks has 50 foot high overhead doors with 30 ton capacity bridge cranes used to remove engines and heavy equipment parts. A wash bay is adjacent to the shop equipped with high flow water turrets capable of dealing with thick mud and coal. The concrete floor has radiant heat throughout the building except for a smaller area of offices. Additional areas designed include a welding bay, light truck maintenance bay, parts warehouse area, lube oil storage tanks, a mezzanine for electrical and mechanical HVAC units, and a waste water lagoon.
