EAPC is happy to welcome McKenna Shallberg to our Sioux Falls office as an Interior Designer

McKenna grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and graduated from SDSU with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Studio Arts.

I was always interested in design, but I entered college undeclared. I was informed through a fellow SDSU swim teammate about the Interior Design program, and after looking into it, I knew that it was the program to pursue.”

McKenna worked at DeWitt Design in Sioux Falls where she completed floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD and 3D renderings in SketchUp. She specified materials and furnishing for current homes and new builds. McKenna also gained experience working at DesignArc, an architecture and design firm in Brookings where she did office space planning.

McKenna said that so far her favorite part of her profession is seeing how much a project changes from beginning to end.

When you finish a project, you look back on where you started and how much it has changed and transformed to get to the finished product. You may enter something with a solidified idea, but over time you draw inspiration from other areas, which results in something that you couldn’t have fathomed in the beginning stages.”

McKenna has a dog, Griz, a St. Bernard/Australian Shepherd mix, who she loves to take on walks. She also enjoys yoga and traveling.

Welcome to EAPC, McKenna!
