EAPC welcomes Brian Wentland, electrical engineer, to our Fargo office.

A native of Ortonville, MN, Brian earned his Electrical Engineering degree from NDSU in 2009. He spent two years as a Controls Engineer for JDP Automation in Moorhead and recently worked at Obermiller Nelson Engineering (ONE) in Fargo as an Electrical Engineer where he designed electrical components of new and existing buildings. Brian worked on the Concordia Science Building Remodel during his ONE days, and recalls it being challenging, but rewarding.

“This building was built like a bomb shelter with concrete for the exterior walls/pillars and CMU brick for interior walls. The project was a basic gut of the entire facility with only the shell remaining. The challenge for this building was that for half of the building we planned to use the existing receptacle locations and not fur out the walls as we did in the other half. Once the contractor was in the wall we found out that the CMU cores were slugged and they were not able to pull new wire without opening up the walls.”

Brian said other challenges included working on the solar array design, solving above ceiling space constraints, and following the LEED certification process.

“Because of the size of this building there were many cost change proposals. Overall it was a great learning experience.”

Brian says that he enjoys designing and so far, in addition to working with great people, he is finding electrical engineering on the industrial side of EAPC very interesting as industrial engineering isn’t something he has been involved with before in his career.

“Overall, I look forward to building relationships with current and future clients regardless of their sector type.”

Brian says during his non-working hours, he enjoys modifying cars and motorcycles.

Welcome to EAPC, Brian!
