Institutional Projects

EAPC was retained to provide services to support a complete replacement of the University of North Dakota steam heating distribution system including 110,000 linear feet of new steam, condensate and hot water heating pipe, 50 manholes and over 100 building tie-in connections damaged as a result of the Red River Valley Flood of 1997.

EAPC Services
Verified steam loads and performed modeling for optimizing a replacement system design resulting in reconfiguration and sizing of the system. Established routing, performed structural and mechanical engineering and design of manholes, piping supports, buried and above ground piping systems, including sump pumps, safety relief valves, reducing stations and materials. Performed an in-depth review of available prefabricated buried pipe products and coating. Included were asbestos abatement specifications and drawings defining work related to asbestos containing steam tunnels, buildings and piping insulations. Also included were studies comparing gas-fired HVAC unit installation versus steam heated units in various buildings. Construction support services included review and disposition of contractor field and change orders, requests for information and contractor progress payments. EAPC also provided full-time field engineering support on-site to ensure completion of the work in compliance with contractual design requirements.

This is just one example of EAPC's service to institutional clients.
