Mining

Foundation Coal Central Heating Plant Study; Gillette, Wyoming, 2007.
The Eagle Butte Mine, a high-volume coal mine that ships approximately 168,000 tons per day of Powder River Basin Coal, commissioned EAPC to study the possibility to reduce the cost of electrical and gas heating at the mine's facilities. The study evaluates the installation of a new coal-fired boiler and new direct buried and above ground steam and condensate distribution system.

The scope of the study included the evaluation of the conversion of existing distributed electrical- and gas-fired boiler and heater systems to a central coal-fired steam generation plant and distribution system. The distribution system would provide heat to numerous buildings spread ovar a distance of approximately one-half mile.

Unique challenges included selection of the boiler and feed system and sizing of th system to accomplish the heating requirements of the facility without exceeding the client's permit for emissions.

This is just one example of EAPC's service to the mining industry. Call (701) 775-3000 to find out how EAPC can serve you.
