Prosthetics Lobby Corridor

Prosthetics Lobby Corridor

Project

Altru Health System acquired the Rehab building located south of the hospital from the University of North Dakota. After abating the structure for asbestos, renovations began for projects listed on the facilities master plan. The existing Orthotics and Prosthetics Department was located in the lower level on the opposite end of the building's lobby making it a poor location for access and visibility. Altru renamed the building Altru Rehabilitation Center and renovated space on the main level next to the building's entrance.

Materials used for prosthetics and the equipment/tools for producing the prosthetics has advanced, requiring less shop and mechanical systems space. This was a major design factor allowing the department to be located on the main level. At the time this project was being constructed, designs were being completed for the orthopedics department to be located adjacent to this department completing the muscular skeletal master plan.

EAPC services included master planning, programming, code analysis, architecture, interior design, structure engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and cost estimating.
