Project
The BioMedical Research Facility is connected to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences by a below-grade tunnel.
The facility provides a Vivarium, Vivarium support, staff areas, administrative areas and mechanical/electrical systems all controlled from a mezzanine level located above the Vivarium.
All surfaces in the animal spaces were designed to be extremely durable and washable. All thirteen animal rooms have individual temperature, humidity and lighting controls with an automatic watering system and are all tied into an environmental watering system. The air pressure differentials between animal room versus ante-room and ante-room versus corridor are critical in an animal facility for the control of odors. Great care was taken to design/size supply and exhaust air in the animal space.
EAPC services included programming, code analysis, site development and parking, architecture, interior design and space planning, structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, cost estimating, construction observation services.
